Succession Planning Workshops Offered at WorkSource
The labor market is expected to shift dramatically in the coming years as the Baby Boomer generation exits the labor force. More than half of all leadership positions are held by Boomers, and businesses must prepare for the significant loss of knowledge and experience from their retirements.
The Spokane Area Workforce Development Council in partnership with WorkSource Spokane will be introducing a number of workshops to help businesses plan and prepare for these eventualities. The three-part Succession and Replacement Planning workshops will be led by Jack Kaplan, WorkSource Spokane Career Pathways Navigator, beginning in March.
The Succession Planning Workshops will introduce a long-term approach and set of tools for businesses to proactively develop talent for replacing their retiring workforce. Jack's method will help businesses to create custom plans for mitigating the loss of key leaders, technical experts, and individuals with critical social relationships, while also identifying high potential individuals who can be trained to eventually fill those roles.
The Replacement Planning Workshops will offer short-term solutions for businesses to plan for critical, at-risk positions within their organizational chart, and how to fill unexpected vacancies. Jack will teach businesses how to immediately fill the roles and responsibilities of a key position, and how to look for a permanent solution to the loss of key talent.
