This grant will support Phase 2 of the Next Generation Zone re-design, technology upgrades, and the 21st Century Skills Academy. The SAWDC has been awarded YouthWorks funds from Washington State Employment Security Department. YouthWorks funds are WIOA discretionary funds allocated by the Governor for various projects. YouthWorks funds will be used to sustain the College and Career Navigator staff position (established with the prior round of these funds in 2014), fund paid internships for students, supplement the Phase 2 Next Generation Zone re-design, and assist with occupational skills training and supportive services for students. In addition, SAWDC staff were asked to participating in a statewide work-based learning policy advisory committee as a part of this grant in order to improve work-based learning outcomes across Washington State. We will work with NorthEast Washington Educational Service District 101 and Career Path Services as subcontractor for these funds.
Grant Timeframe: July 1, 2016-March 31, 2018
